I think I solved the bathroom crisis this morning. I was typing up a Facebook status (venting just a little bit) about teenage couples who are increasingly taking selfies in the bathroom together when my mind wandered to why this was even bothering me. I came to the conclusion that it’s because the bathroom is still the one sacred space in society. The one place where people are content keep the sewage where it belongs. The one place where modesty is still encouraged and appropriateness is still expected by all. The place where we are most concerned about being infected.
Is it any wonder that bathrooms are front page news right now? The enemy knows what he’s doing.
So I think that maybe we could finally open our eyes to what we are doing to our society if we just get rid of bathrooms altogether. Let’s just not have them. After all, we all have bodily functions…let’s not be ashamed of them. NO SHAME. Let’s just release ourselves whenever we get the feeling of fullness. I mean, after all, life is all about feelings. We should not have to hold them back for even a moment…we should not have to consider the others around us when we release them…we should be able to get this all out in the open. After all, it can be traumatizing to “hold it”. I know I have had some moments when I thought I might die if I couldn’t get to a bathroom. I’m human. I was born like this. Why should I be confined to the current closed mindedness of society? It’s just not fair.
If these words are making you squirm a little with inappropriateness, please just take a look around you. We are now doing everything from hiring to celebritizing people based on their bedroom habits. It is not lost on me that I could walk into a public women’s restroom at any moment and be greeted by a penis (Y’all I hate even typing that word, but it was a necessary gasp). We are living in a society that wants to be able to poop anywhere and on anyone without shame…with acceptance…with celebration. We have people with an agenda that want to poop on our children and if not them, then their children.
We have bathrooms for a reason. Can you imagine the smell that would spread if we did away with them? Can you imagine the rampant disease? Those of us that cringe if we can’t wash our hands after using the toilet can tell you a few things about what is possible when coming into contact with others bodily fluids.
And yet, this is exactly what is happening all around us in a spiritual sense. The enemy is trying to do away with the bathrooms. He wants us to accept excrement into our lives anywhere and at anytime. He wants the shame to become cleaning up the poop. He wants the shame to become sharing the knowledge that motivates people to go in the bathroom.
Why? Because he comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He knows and loves the diseases that are spread in a bathroom free environment. The rancid smells that result from the messes left untouched and uncleaned…he lives for it. He loves when it becomes so unlivable that people end there lives rather than live them. Nothing makes him happier than a silencing of the voices of the Truth that can set free. We are beginning to see what living in his domain is really like. Where the facade of “love” and “tolerance” and “acceptance” leads to hopelessness, despair, and a loss of reality.
Because the reality is that God made them “male and female” for a reason and there is an intricate purpose for why they reproduce after their own kind. The reality is that the Groom is coming back for a Bride, without blemish or spot…not because She has not come into contact with sin, but because He has washed Her in His own blood. This Bride hasn’t been tested out or practiced on…She is pure and holy and ready for her Groom. She has pushed away all other things so She has more time to look for Him with expectation. She is beckoning to all “Come! You have to meet the Groom!” She lives solely for Him…noone else. And He protects Her without fail. His True Bride will not be soiled by the agenda of a society that wants nothing to do with the Groom.
So yes, a completely inappropriate picture…one that I do not revel in painting, but one that hit me square in the face this morning. One that makes me ask the question, where is my place in this fight? How do I fight the agenda and still beckon those falling prey to it? How do I remain without spot and blemish in a world daily throwing poop?
“Love not the world…neither the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in them. For all that is in the world…the lust of the flesh (following feeling)…the lust of the eyes (following feelings)…and the pride of life (following feelings), is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world and its feelings will pass away, but the one who does the will of the Father lives forever.” I John 2:15-17
